A former letting agency owner in Norfolk, England, has received a suspended prison sentence after admitting fraud involving landlords and tenants. Norfolk Constabulary reported the outcome on 12 October.
Victoria Steele, who ran E-HOMES Ltd, previously known as Prestige Property Ltd, pleaded guilty to 19 fraud offences. At Norwich Crown Court on 30 September, she received a 12-month prison sentence suspended for 18 months, with 200 hours of unpaid work.
The police investigation found that some tenants’ deposits had not been protected, leaving landlords to reimburse the tenants themselves. Police also received reports of rent paid by tenants failing to reach landlords. Across the case, 20 victims lost a total of £48,858.10.
Police have begun proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act to seek compensation. A confiscation hearing is due in February 2027; the announcement does not confirm that the missing money has been recovered.
